Do Not Judge One Another

Food laws and celebrating holidays are still points of contention among believers nearly 2,000 after Paul told each of us to mind our own business. Respect the beliefs of others, being particularly careful around those “weaker in the faith.” If you eat, if you abstain, if you observe, remember that each will give an account to God personally.

Fulfilling the Law

All the things Paul lists in Romans 12 that Christians should be doing… in Romans 13 we learn that all those, done in love, fulfill the law.

Christians Be Like…

I gave this sermon a Gen Z title and somehow never mentioned it at church this morning. The ESV calls this passage Marks of True Christian while the Holman CSB simply says Christian Ethics. Whatever title you give it, this is what Christians need to be doing.

We Are the Body

Paul elaborates more on these topics in other letters but in Romans 12 he addresses the spiritual gifts and different members working together as one body. The best commentary on the Bible is the Bible so we will take a look at 1 Peter 2 and 1 Corinthians 12 as well. Do not be conformed to this world, be conformed to the image of Christ!

A Living Sacrifice

“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice…”
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”

Just the first two verses as we begin Romans 12. Lots of good stuff in there.

The Mystery of Israel’s Salvation

There was not a sermon last week. We had worship but I was taking whatever cold or flu-like thing is going around. This is the end of Romans 11, from verse 25 to 36.

Grafting Gentiles

Romans 11 is not easy like Romans 10. As an apostle called to the Gentile nations, Paul laments again his own people Israel and hopes to save some.

Salvation for All (who believe)

We are jumping back into the book for Romans where we left off. Romans 10 is good news, no two ways about it.

Beginnings and Endings

It’s that time of year; we just help ourselves thinking about how one year ends and another begins. The end of anything is often the beginning something else and would you look at that? “New year, new you” just became a sermon illustration for the Epiphany.
