Acts 9:32-43
Acts 9 wraps up with the miraculous healing of Aeneas and Tabitha, or Dorcas, being brought back to life! Most of the chapter is about Saul and his salvation, Peter makes a brief appearance near the end.
Acts 9:10-19
Ananias, a disciple in Damascus, received word from the Lord in a vision that he was to find Saul and lay hands on him. Saul had a vision in which he was healed by a man named Ananias. This is our second sermon of three on Saul’s conversion experience.
Acts 9:1-11
Saul’s experience on the Damascus Road is probably well known among Christians. I am going to divide the account given in Acts 9 into three sermons. Today we will consider Saul’s personal encounter with Jesus on the way to Damascus.
Acts 8:26-40
Phillip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch leads to the Gospel making its way from Jerusalem to Ethiopian. As long as Christianity has existed there have been Christians in Ethiopia. There are also a couple of lessons about responding to the direction of the Spirit for us along the way.
Acts 8:9-25
Simon the magician is impressed by the power of the Holy Spirit and offers to pay the Apostles for it. The Gospel is spread throughout Samaria.
Acts 8:1-8
Stephen became the first Christian martyr at the end of Acts 7. Persecution of the believers spread as we are introduced to Saul; the gospel spreads as we are introduced to Phillip.
Acts 7:35-53
Stephen outlines Moses as a type of Christ and concludes that the modern Jews (of the 1st Century) continues to resist the Holy Spirit as they have always done.

Robert T. Manning
(August 7, 1920 – September 15, 2017)
Mr. Robert T. Manning, age 97, of Riverbend Road, Plainville, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Gordon Health Care, Calhoun.
He was born in Adairsville, GA, on August 7, 1920, son of the late Cicero Cleveland Manning and Jennie Teems Manning. Mr. Manning was a member of Plainville Unity Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII and a Bronze Star and Purple Heart Recipient. He enjoyed gardening during the summer time and working his puzzles during the winter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cleveland Manning, J.C. Manning, Lester Manning, Vernon Manning, and James H. Manning; sisters, Evie Manning and Evelyn Manning.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Ella Ruth Manning of Plainville; sons and daughter-in-law, Norris Frederick Manning of St. Louis and Bruce and Mary Manning of Sonoraville; grandchildren, Shayna (Jesse) Ragan, Breana Manning, and Matthew Manning; a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Clark Bunch, Rev. Ralph Kinman, and Rev. Eddie Manning officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery Adairsville. Pallbearers include Jason Manning, Millard Payne, Wesley McMorris, Jesse Ragan, Caleb Collins, and Von Garland. Honorary pallbearers include Jack Miller, Frank Sandy, and Gene Grisham.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Mr. Manning’s memory to the Blewer Memorial Food Distrubution Center, 373 Morrow Road, SE Calhoun, 30701.

Stephen was listed among the first seven deacons in Acts 6. His address in Acts 7 before the Council used the history of Israel to make a case for Jesus as the Christ. After sticking their fingers in their ears and screaming like small children, they then make Stephen the first Christian Martyr.
