You are probably familiar with the story of the boy who cried wolf. He ruined his credibility by constantly shouting about a wolf attacking the sheep he was watching when there was no danger. Eventually the community ignored him even when there was a real danger present. On week one of Advent we light the Prophets’ candle and are reminded that God’s words are true; he is a credible witness.
